Why is my word/phrase not there?

It could be that we are still in the process of putting your suggestion up on the site - so keep an eye out for it. But if it's not up it could be for a number of reasons including but not limited to:

• Your comment had technical problems like we couldn't read it!
• We were unable to use your suggestion for legal or regulatory reasons like it includes swearing, a personal attack on someone and so on.
• We have since removed it because, for example, someone took offence and our legal people told us to remove it.
• We never received it in the first place!

We may contact you if there are problems with your suggestion. Otherwise try again - we simply may not have received it!

Why do you always ask for my personal details when I make a suggestion?

We need to know who you are so that we can put a name/nickname to a suggestion when we include your suggestion as part of Wordz on the Street. Also we may need to contact you after you've sent in your suggestion.

What do you do with my personal information?

Any personal information collected on the Black & Asian History Map website will be used by Channel 4 in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998. The information we collect on this Web Site is:
• Personal information (name and email) when you make a suggestion.
• Users' IP addresses, which are automatically logged by our web server. We use these to observe users' interest in Wordz on the Street.
• Channel 4 has taken appropriate measures to keep users' personal information secure.

Channel 4 may use the personal information collected on the Black & Asian History Map Web Site to contact you for matters relating to your contribution to the Black & Asian History Map Web Site. We will not use your information in any other way or disclose it to third parties without your consent.
