 Introduction | Charterhouse | Dinnington | Frilford | Heronbridge
Kenchester | Llandeilo | Maryport | Medbourne | Turnershall | Whitehall

The Roman town of Kenchester has been well known for many years. However, there is a further site, less than a kilometre to the south, at a bend in the River Wye on the north bank.

The suggestion is that the site is Roman, and is closely related to Kenchester together the two form what is known as a bi-polar settlement, the functions of which were mutually complementary. It is possibly a river port and transhipment facility, perhaps with some industry going on as well, and may also mark the site of a bridging point across the Wye.
