Big Royal Dig
Windsor Gardener
The grass area at Windsor Castle being mowed is called 'Military Knights'
because the buildings in the background house the Military Knights.
Scaffolding is erected on this area on Garter Day from where members of the
public can view the ceremony.

Windsor Castle

Founded by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. Time Team aim to establish the location and size of the original palace built by Henry II, and rebuilt by Henry III – particularly the Great Hall – which was at the centre of court life.

The team also hope to unearth Edward III's Round Table building, originally built to house a giant round table around which Edward planned to seat his own Knights of the Round Table. They believe this lies under the Queen's ceremonial lawn at Windsor Castle.

As soon as the first spade hits the ground, our on site reporter will be busy taking exclusive photos and getting the low down from behind the scenes. Keep logging on to get the latest updates as Time Team web writer and editor, Steve Platt, sends in his latest blogs and images.
