Big Royal Dig
Peter Urwin

Peter was always digging around in the mud as a kid, so his Mum tells him, so studying archaeology at Edinburgh University was a pretty natural progression. He liked the city so much (except for the weather) that he stayed on after graduating, eventually becoming a photographer and web designer.

He's a bit of a nut for anything Roman, but his favourite dig was a Neolithic settlement on the outskirts of Cambridge (now a car park), where he helped unearth a skeleton surrounded by mysterious and as yet unexplained balls of flint.

He loves Time Team because it inspires members of the public to get interested in archeology, and shows them that it's not all men with beards (well, not quite).
