Big Royal Dig
Big Royal Dig
Welcome to the Big Royal Dig
To accompany the review of the Big Royal Dig (shown on Channel 4, 31 December 2006 7.00pm) Tony Robinson and archaeological experts look back and talk about their experiences on the Big Royal Dig and reveal which finds caused the most excitement amongst the team.

New publications now available – Oxford Archaeology have completed publications for Windsor Castle Upper Ward and Buckingham Palace.

Over the 2006 August Bank Holiday weekend, Time Team helped celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday in a rather unusual way – by digging up the Gardens of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to explore the history of the palaces and unearth a few royal mysteries. Tony Robinson and his team of experts were granted unprecedented access to these amazing locations.

Over the weekend we came, we saw, we dug, we found, we filmed and we blogged... You still have the chance to follow the drama and the excitement from Big Royal Dig Live as it happened as relayed by our on-site reporters, including exclusive behind the scenes video clips from Buckingham Palace.

Elsewhere on this site you can read about the history of the palaces, brush up on your archaeology and learn about royal titles and the royal family tree.
