The Route
Our walkers will walk 500 miles from the west coast of England to the east coast of Scotland.Their route will take in a variety of different terrains. Tough cross-country trails with mountains to climb will test their strength, stamina and leave them no option but to carry on to the top.
They will take in some of the most breath-taking scenery that shows them what they're missing as they spend their lives sat on a sofa watching TV. As well as some of Britain's most amazing and challenging beauty spots, the route will also take them through some of our major towns and cities.
These urban walks will help highlight how and why Britain is becoming a fat nation. We will see our walkers struggle to purchase a well-balanced healthy meal in typical British town. Local people will come out on to the streets to offer support and encouragement – maybe even join in the march themselves.

Each person will have a different level of fitness. Some may be able to comfortably walk 10 miles on day one, while others may not even be able to walk the length of a supermarket aisle.
All our walkers will start at the same time, at the same point. We will quickly see who is fit as they rush ahead. And we'll see who'll struggle as they fight for breath after only covering 100 yards. Some may simply not have it in them and might be forced to drop out.
However, this is not a race. Each stage will see a different target set so that each walker will be able build up their stamina. Our walkers will be encouraged to stick together and learn from and support each other. At times, there will be a buddy system in place and our walkers will have to stick with their buddy group. This will force them to experience the journey from someone else's point of view. They will be able to motivate one another and help each other out with the day-to-day necessities like attending to each other's blisters, or tying each other's shoes. It is unlikely that left alone, many of our walkers would be able to do simple chores without help.
Accommodation
This will be a mix of camping and staying overnight in accommodation along the route. For the most part our marchers will set up camp at the end of each day. This will give them some social time together when they are not walking and force them to take on roles and responsibilities within the group. They will have a weekly budget to cover their needs and may decide to put this money towards nights in decent accommodation.
