Their three pupils stumble through how to open – approach and start a conversation – with engaging lines; struggle with the protocol of kino – touching to create intimacy – and ultimately have to take the plunge and close, seducing a stranger.
Things start badly on the first day of the course when Dave takes 15 minutes to pluck up the courage to ask someone for a light, Neil pretends to be a panda in order to chat someone up, and Adrian thinks a two-second encounter counts as a pick-up attempt.
The deeply painful encounters continue as the three men try out their new techniques on the unsuspecting women of Britain, filmed with hidden cameras.
As the course progresses each of the men face their own private challenges. Dave can't seem to overcome a fear, bordering on terror, of approaching women; Neil nearly drops out altogether; and Adrian tries to pick up one of his oldest friends.
Their last night provides one final chance after days of mishaps, and finally everything they've learnt seems to come together, with even the most hopeless of the three making dramatic progress...
