34 year old who jokes about their weight

This is me. I am 34 years old and live in the States. I have been fairly big my whole life but when I graduated high school I was pretty slim (6'1" 185lbs). Since then I have gotten bigger but am now working out at a gym to lose weight. I wouldn't say I'm happy with my weight (obviously if I'm working to lose) but I'm not unhappy either. I realize being slimmer will help my health and set a good example for my children. I make jokes about my weight as a defensive maneuver before people can make a joke themselves... this way I won't be hurt because I'm saying it Make sense? I guess I am happy with the "me" under this shell... I don't know...
