Tainted Love and Sex Bomb
The sexual health of young people is in crisis. Sexually transmitted infections have doubled in the UK in the last five years and more teenagers have an STI than anywhere else in Europe. At the same time, awareness of the facts is woefully low.
In the first of the two films, 'Tainted Love', cameras follow nine people at one of the busiest sexual health clinics in the country. The result is a revealing picture about infidelity, promiscuity and the fractured relationships that have brought patients to the clinic.
'Sex Bomb', the second film, travels to sexual health clinics across the country to follow people as they are given their first diagnosis. In every case the patients knew nothing about these infections beforehand. 'Sex Bomb' reveals some shocking facts about STIs, such as: most women with chlamydia never get any symptoms; oral sex with someone with a cold sore can lead to genital herpes; and 50% of heterosexuals with HIV don’t know they have it.
