Biography l Dawn Writes
The Hughes family, from Caversham in Berkshire, are mum Dawn (43), dad Steve (44), Matthew (15), Ellie (12) and Freddie (8).
They are very much your typical family who love each other and enjoy family banter. They have tried to keep things as normal as possible for the children but Dawn's illness and the stress and effects of treatment have predictably put pressures on family life.
Dawn now has secondary breast cancer which has spread to her bones and is currently undergoing treatment both in the UK and in Germany. Dawn has set up a website to keep all family, friends and well-wishers informed on her progress through her regular blogs. She has continued working throughout as a systems analyst for the BBC.
Steve, a manager for a security firm in London, is finding the going as tough as any of them, but is completely committed to doing everything in his power to help the family stay strong through these tough times.
