In February 1998 Dr Andrew Wakefield claimed to have discovered a possible link between the MMR vaccine and autism. A global health scare ensued and fear spread among parents who were unsure what immunisation choices to make in light of the new research. Worried parents of autistic children, who had already been given the MMR jab, began to seriously question their choice of vaccination.
The world's press was shocked by the story; but what was going on behind the scenes? In the first episode of a new Dispatches series, Brian Deer exposes the facts that parents weren't told about the MMR scare.
