FOURDOCS 4 SHEFFIELD

O Dreamland

To celebrate our first birthday, FourDocs is working with Channel 4 to find the best short documentaries that have been submitted to the site this year.

A team of experts from Channel 4, FourDocs and the documentary world will select two winners and two runners up from the many entries that have been uploaded on to FourDocs, the UK’s first broadband documentary channel.

The directors of all four shorts will see their film broadcast on Channel 4 in the 3 Minute Wonder slot in November. They will receive £600 prize money and an Executive Producer to help them re-edit their documentary for 3 Minute Wonder. The two winners will also be invited to join Channel 4 at Newcomer’s Day at the celebrated Sheffield International Documentary Festival.

The Sheffield International Documentary Festival is one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the UK and since the festival’s inception Channel 4 has always been at its centre. Now is your chance to join Channel 4 as a guest delegate on Newcomer’s Day at the festival. All you have to do is make a four-minute documentary and upload it to FourDocs.

The two winning directors will get access to the Newcomer’s Day on 2nd November 2006 at the festival courtesy of Channel 4, and all 4 films will be screened throughout the festival.

The winners will be invited to sit on a panel to discuss their films - and the wider future of short-form documentary - with leading film-makers and Commissioning Editors. This is a unique opportunity to get your talent for documentary instantly recognised and to network with the international documentary community.

If you believe your best work has already been submitted to FourDocs, don’t worry: all FourDocs are eligible and will be taken into consideration during the judging.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 1 September 2006. Following this date there will be a ten-day assessment to produce a short list. All short-listed films will be named on the FourDocs site on Friday 15 September and the two winners and two runners up will be announced after final judging on Friday 23 September. If you have trouble uploading, please tell us, and we’ll do what we can to help. But remember, we only want documentaries. Enter now on FourDocs

FourDocs is Channel Four’s prizewinning broadband documentary community. Anyone can upload a documentary to FourDocs. It just has to be fact-based and 4-minutes long. Find out how to make and upload your documentary short at FourDocs
