SBS is Australia's public service broadcaster. They're looking for short documentaries to buy for the channel, and have shown an interest in a number of FourDocs. We interviewed Lien Quach from SBS to see just what they're looking for.

SBS is financed mostly by the Federal Government through triennial funding arrangements and a small percentage of advertising revenue.
Short films assessor. I look after short film submissions and programming of short films.

We are looking for well made, engaging short docs (up to 15 minutes, made in the last two years) which are suitable for a general audience. Stories that inspire, intrigue, inform and entertain.
If filmmakers would like to submit their short doc for consideration, please email programming@sbs.com.au with information about their short film, such as a press kit containing a synopsis, year of production, duration, credits, screenings, any publicity and stills.

We pay a flat rate per minute. The amount varies according to currency conversion rate. The amount is specified if and when we make an offer.
