A full-on, interactive, fun learning experience for students interested in making documentaries. The 200 students who attended got access to hands on mentoring from some of the best documentary practitioners in the country. Doc Day Afternoon now challenges students and young documentary makers who came to create a four minute documentary for FourDocs

WHO CAME?

Sixth form and university students who wanted to make documentaries and get help from the experts.

WHEN/WHERE?

1000 – 2200 Tuesday 31 October 2006 in Hallam University's Student Union buildings, Paternoster Row, Sheffield

TELL YOU MORE...

DOC Day Afternoon was an inspiring, intense, demanding and entertaining day and evening of workshops, screenings and hands-on documentary making surgeries. Some of the best documentary practitioners from around the UK - directors, producers, editors, commissioners and plenty more - were there to help you in your production of a four minute documentary to upload onto FourDocs, and getting as much advice and insider tips as you can on making your next documentary.

WAS THAT IT?

Oh, no, no, no. After spedning the day in the workshop, participants also got to see a film in the Sheffield International Documentary Festival for free as part of your DOC Day Afternoon ticket. It was Black Gold, a new powerful British documentary about the coffee trade, with the film-makers there to take questions.
