GUIDANCE RATINGS

Details on what the FourDocs guidance ratings mean.

FourDocs rates all archive and user-submitted films on three counts: strong language, sexual content and violence. If a film contains any such material, some or all of the symbols below will be coloured red, depending on the nature of the content. If boxes are not coloured red, you can assume that the film does not contain any such adult material.

The system works like the 9pm Watershed on television i.e. the symbols will only be coloured red if:
1) in relation to strong language, a film contains any instances of the most offensive language e.g. the F-word, C-word or derivatives;
2) in relation to sex, a film contains nudity in a sexual context and/or explicit sexual behaviour and references that would be unsuitable for children; and,
3) in relation to violence, a film contains violence of a serious nature or dwells on some detail that might be distressing e.g. shows pain and suffering, injuries, blood etc.

- Contains very strong language

- Contains scenes or references of a sexual nature unsuitable for children

- Contains scenes of violence or its after-effects unsuitable for children
