In addition, the following special terms apply to your use of the FourDocs site. They provide information on how your films are licenced for use on FourDocs so make sure you take a look.
If you wish to send us the url of your film you need to complete the FourDocs checklist. Please note:
1.1 Creative Commons License
All films will be uploaded by the FourDocs team on to the site under a Creative Commons Licence. You agree to be bound by the terms of each licence.
For films to be accepted onto the site, filmmakers are required to publish their films under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-No-Derivatives licence. This means that any other site user is able to copy, distribute, display the film subject to the following conditions:
1) the original author is properly credited;
2) the work is not used for commercial purposes; and,
3) others may not alter, transform or build upon the work. In addition, for any reuse and distribution, the terms of the licence must be made clear to others. View the licence here, or learn more about Creative Commons.
1.2 Channel 4 rights to use films
In addition to the license granted to Channel 4 as stated in Channel 4's terms and conditions, filmmakers hereby agree to:
a) allow FourDocs to use stills i.e. still images, from the films for publicity purposes, both within and outside of the FourDocs site. In every case, however, any such publicity still will be properly acknowledged i.e. it will be accompanied by the title of the film from which it is taken and the name of the film-maker.
b)Filmmakers agree that FourDocs may make their film available for download via Video Podcasting ('Vodcasting') i.e. through an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed on the FourDocs website to feed into software including, but not limited to, iTunes, Democracy Player, and Google Video, allowing any user of this software to download films for offline viewing. Users downloading films posted on the FourDocs site in this way will be notified of the terms of the Creative Commons licence under which the film is being made available.
c) that FourDocs may brand their films with FourDocs 'idents' at start and end, and make their film available for viewing for publicity purposes on other websites including, but not limited to, You Tube and Google Video. These 'idents' will not infringe upon the audio or video of the documentaries themselves. Users of these other websites will be clearly notified of the name of the filmmaker.
d) Filmmakers consent for their film to be distributed via Video Podcasting or on other websites authorised by FourDocs in a composite Channel 4 package (i.e. along with content that may come from other subsites of channel4.com), that may include commercial advertising, including still and moving images promoting commercial companies. However, such advertising will not infringe upon the audio or video of the documentaries themselves.
