This recipe is easy to prepare and ideal for using up any apples past their best. Use any mixture of dried fruits you have in the cupboards, such as dates, apricots, figs or prunes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 eating apples (the ones with wrinkly skins)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 100g mixed sultanas, nuts, pumpkin seeds
  • Knob of butter
  • Yogurt to serve

Method: How to make baked apples

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

2. Wash and core the apples, load the cores with sultanas, nuts and pumpkin seeds and pour in two dessertspoons of maple syrup.

3. Place the apples in a flameproof dish, top each with a little butter, cover and cook for about 30 minutes or until the apples are just cooked.
