Many came, few were chosen - now which of the Eggs Factor finalists will be crowned 2009's most cracking egg? You decide

We've whittled them down to the most popular, most delicious and most outrageous Easter eggs, now we want to know which egg gets your vote. Check out the competition then let us know which egg you'd like the Easter bunny to deliver to you by voting in the poll.

The Classic – Smarties shaker egg from Nestle (£1.59)

Smarties shaker egg

Serving up a solid offering for decades, the Smarties egg is a firm family favourite with an impressive back catalogue of performances. This year's entry sports the classic tortoiseshell egg design cradling a generous portion of Smarties which are left loose to lend the egg a crowd-pleasing maraca sound.

What the judges say: "I think they are great; the shaking gives you something to do with your egg. For fun, I like this one."

The Eco Warrior – James' chocolate egg from Raoul's (£12.99)

James' chocolate egg

With less packaging than your average plastic wrapped egg this Venezuelan milk chocolate offering is a model of integrity and a big hitter in the environmental charts. It's simply styled look hides a decadent flavour perfect for those in search of chocolate with heart.

What the judges say: "I want to use the word decadent to describe this chocolate; it took a bit of getting into and I got bored but now I'm eating it I'm glad I persevered."

Mum's favourite – Divine milk chocolate egg with Champagne truffles (£9.99)

Divine Milk Chocolate egg

Combining sophisticated charm with philanthropic verve, this big hearted Lothario is sure to be a hit with the mums. A milk chocolate egg complete with a pretty gold box full of marc de champagne truffles; all because the lady loves… chocolate and booze.

What the judges say: "The truffles have an amazing consistency; they are melt-in-the-mouth. The farmers own part of the chocolate company so they're making money from the sales of the egg."

The children's choice – Lindt bunny and carrots (£4.99)

Lindt bunny and carrots

Scoring big in all the right places this tasty chocolate bunny combines all the cuteness of an Easter rabbit with delicious Lindt chocolate and cocoa umbrellas. It's sure to be a hit with the kids but who doesn't love a chocolate lollipop?

What the judges say: "The umbrella carrots are good as you don't get chocolate on your hands; these are the bomb."

The group entry - Café Tasse mini praline egg box (£7.99)

Café Tasse mini praline egg box

Proving that two eggs or indeed 18 are better than one these small but perfectly formed performers are the food of love. Boasting an impressive range of chocolate flavours, from creamy white to bitter dark, this cocoa choir offers something for everyone. This is style with substance.

What the judges say: "They look gorgeous. It's like a proper egg box - that's gorgeous. They are delicious - something different."

The soul sister - Rocky road ostrich egg from Hotel Chocolat (£50)

The big momma - Rocky road ostrich egg from Hotel Chocolat

Forget your wafer thin chocolate eggs, this is a delicious diva that proves big is beautiful. The thick egg delivers with white chocolate chips, crisped rice and biscuit bits and keeps on giving with a drawer full of luxurious truffles and slabs of caramel chocolate. Hotel Chocolate's ethical policy means this is an Easter egg that's really got soul.

What the judges say: "At the top of the game in the indulgence stakes - smell that - oh that's good."

Girls' choice - White chocolate egg with Champagne ganache from Sainsbury's (£9)

White chocolate egg

We're looking at a lovely, pretty egg here - a cover of a classic that will appeal to a female audience, maybe a male audience too. Aesthetically beautiful, light, delicate with just a hint of sharpness from the alcohol in the ganache. A lovely performance.

What the judges say: "This lacks the sickliness you think of with white chocolate - a real surprise."

The dark and mysterious one - Antioxidant egg from Rococo (£18.50)

antioxidant egg

When a chocolate claims to be healthy, we sit up and take notice. This is a serous contender for lovers of dark chocolate - unashamedly bitter and smooth as an Italian man's carpentry.

What the judges say: "Excellent. The truffles inside have a seriously long after taste - lovely."

The alternative scene - Diabetic egg from Thorntons (£5.99)

Diabetic Egg

People with diabetes need not miss out on a cracking egg this Easter thanks to this outstanding offering. This is a strong performer in any category - you should never underestimate an outside shot.

What the judges say: "I would not have known this was a diabetic egg - it certainly holds its own among the standard eggs."

The crowd pleaser - Easter egg head from Waitrose (£12)

Egg head

A scene stealer that will appeal to kids (and big kids). This combination of a plain base with separate chocolate features and chocolate 'glue' has reinvented the Easter egg giving a whole layer of fun to a seasonal favourite.

What the judges say: "I am entertained by that - I feel like I've literally made a new friend."

  3. Chocolate tastes great, as you would expect from Nestle. We all love Smarties, so you are on a winner there, and you get to annoy everyone by rattling the egg. Can't beat that !

  4. I don't want the Lindt bunny to win, he is a cute and delicious classic but seriously- the James' chocolate egg from Raoul's is the best chocolate I've tasted in ages. It deservers to win the prize :)
