Ooh la la, get your mouth around these tiny teasers as served by Amy Lovett on Come Dine With Me Southampton

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 medium onions, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 375g pack ready-rolled puff pastry
  • Pitted Kalamata olives, sliced sun-dried tomatoes, grated Gruyere cheese

Method: How to make caramelised onion canapés

1. Heat the oil in a pan and gently fry the onions for 20 minutes until softened and golden, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic, balsamic vinegar and plenty of seasoning. Cook together for a few more minutes.

2. Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas 6. Unroll the pastry and cut into 4cm squares. Put on a large baking sheet, placed a little apart. Spoon a little of the onion mixture onto each square. Top with olives, sun-dried tomatoes and some cheese. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until puffed up and golden brown.

Please note this recipe is the contestant's own and has not been tested professionally. Like the Come Dine With Me contestants, you could be creating a culinary delight or dining disaster, so switch on your ovens and be bold.
