Hugh supped up his summer strawberries with the smoothie's bigger, buffer brother, on River Cottage 2009

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 300g strawberries, hulled
  • 200ml apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons porridge oats (not jumbo ones)

Method: How to make strawberry thickie

Hugh's tip:

Make sure the ingredients are well chilled before you begin.

1. Whiz the strawberries, apple juice and oats in a blender until smooth. If it seems too thick, thin down with a little more apple juice.

2. Serve straight away.

  1. This 'thickie' recipe doesn't sound the same as the one in the programme (24.6.09, strawberry fayre one). I seem to remember some yoghurt and ice cubes? Am I right? Thanks for all the recipes tho', better than waiting until Christmas for the book of the series.
