Gordon Ramsay
Series 4 of the F Word got off to a spicy start when Geri Halliwell took on Gordon in a meatball challenge. Geri used her Mum's family recipe
1. To make the meatballs mix the beef, onion, spring onion and garlic together with the soy sauce, sherry, sugar and egg. Season with the salt and pepper and add the flour. Mix well.
2. Put some flour on a plate to dust your hands and/or the meatballs if they are too sticky.
3. Get a heavy based frying pan or large wok (large enough to cook 13 meatballs).
4. Put ½ cup of oil into the pan and set aside.
5. Mix up the meatball mixture and form into golf sized balls. When you've made eight balls put the frying pan on a medium heat to heat the oil.
6. Continue making the meatballs once you have 13 meatballs fry them in the pan for 6 minutes or until cooked through. If the oil is too hot place meatballs on a spoon and lower into pan to avoid the fat spitting.
7. Place the cooked meatballs onto a metal tray.
8. To make the sauce, drain the oil from the pan you cooked the meatballs in or use a fresh heavy based frying pan. Add 2 tablespoons of oil and fry the onions until golden - roughly 5 mins. Add chopped peppers and fry for another 6 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes, courgettes, sherry, sugar, soy sauce and basil and cook for 5 minutes.
9. Add the meatballs right at the end and mix for 30 seconds or until warmed through. Serve with plain rice
