Watch Gordon prepare this easy tiramisu

Gordon Ramsay and his brigade of amateur chefs served this recipe as a main dessert to diners in the F Word restaurant.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 250g mascarpone
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp Marsala, brandy or Tia Maria
  • 150ml strong coffee or espresso, cooled to room temperature
  • 150ml single cream
  • 4 tbsp icing sugar
  • 16 sponge fingers (savoiardi)
  • Frozen bar of 70% of chocolate bar
  • Cocoa powder, to dust

Method: How to make easy tiramisu

1. Whisk the mascarpone with the vanilla and Marsala and 50ml coffee, until everything is thoroughly mixed together. Whisk the cream with the icing sugar until smooth, then fold in the mascarpone mix

2. Pour the remaining coffee into a bowl (sweeten with more icing sugar if you like). Take one sponge finger at a time and dip it in to the coffee. Set it to one side and continue with the remaining biscuits

3. Line 4 serving glasses with 4 sponge fingers, breaking them in half if you need to. Spoon the mascarpone mix in until you reach the top of the glass. Refrigerate for 20 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.

4. Remove the tiramisu from the fridge. Take the frozen chocolate bar and grate a little chocolate over the top of each Tiramisu. Finally, dust with sifted cocoa powder to serve.

  3. Use double cream, single cream makes it way too runny...i have learned my lesson twice now!! It is lush though!

  8. Made this today for dessert for Mothers Day. Really lovely. Would probably try double cream next time though too as consistency was bit runny.

  9. The recipe is amazing, i made it for a dinner party and everybody loved it. I used to double cream though instead of simgle and i think that works better.

  11. I cant thank you enough for this one Gordon My 9 year old daughter loves cooking with me, and she's a big fan of Tiramisu now. As for the comments below, with your ingredients ready, this Tiramisu can be made in 5 minutes, and looks stunning! To answer Ekta's question below, you can prepare this in the morning and it keeps beautifully, I usually make it a couple of hours before eating the main meal, I dust it with cocoa and the grated chocolate just before serving.. Hope that helps!

  12. I think there is a mistake in your recipe, you said to add the mascarpone twice and not said when to add the single cream! I think you meant to add the single cream first and then fold in the mascarpone cheese. Regards

  14. Dear Gordon. I have enjoyed watching the antics of the chefs in your kitchens. I watch with envy, the food that comes out of your kitchens' and aspire everytime I'm in the kitchen to match to end product..., unfortuantely, when it comes to plating, I'm not so sh*t hot, so to speak. I do persist however and will continue. I do get many comments about my cooking, none of them bad, except from myself that is. (I'm my own worst critic) I am however concerned for your health. No doubt, the doctors have told you to tone down your stressful life. I concur with them. I know that to be a chef (which I'm not), you have to be a perfectionist, but the way you get so worked up over the stupid mistakes your charges make, I'm sure that a heart attack isn't worth it. Your continued health and the coninuation of your shows' and for the sake of your family, I urge you to slow things down. Why don't you come down to New Zealand and have a go down here. Come and stay for a month or so, do a few shows and relax on the beach or go hunting, do something to relax and unwind. I look forwards to watching your show and to hearing from you in the near future. Jason
