Cook like an angel with this pasta recipe from Gordon Ramsay's Cookalong Live.

Watch Gordon's videos on how to cook pasta and tell when it's done and how to handle chillies.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 200g angel hair pasta
  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 red chilli
  • 4 spring onions
  • Approx 75ml dry white wine
  • 1 lime
  • 250g white crab meat
  • Handful of flat leaf parsley
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Method: How to make angel hair pasta with crab, chilli and lime

1. Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. When it comes to a rolling boil, add the pasta and cook according to pack instructions until al dente (approximately 3-4 minutes).

2. Heat another large pan with the olive oil. Chop the spring onions, thinly slice the chilli (deseed if you prefer) and crush the garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes and season with salt and pepper.

3. Add the wine to the pan and cook out for a minute to reduce. Add the crab meat, stir together and allow to heat through.

4. Drain the pasta and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Add the pasta to the crab mixture, chop the parsley and toss the ingredients to combine.

5. Divide between warm plates and serve immediately with a generous squeeze of lime juice, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

  1. I did not have fresh crab, so I used canned, but before you all say OMG, it was really nice crab. Not supermarket variety, it was sweet, not salty, anyway, I did still think the flavors in the pasta overwhelmed the taste of the crab. Perhaps, the best way to eat crab is it all by itself, with maybe a little drawn butter. All in all, it was a very nice dish, but would be just as good without the crab, Loved the lime in it.

  2. Have done this recipe with chicken instead as me and my partner don't like fish and I must say it is fantastic! Nice one Gordon!

  3. Wow what a recipe! I was in Edinburgh for the rugby so taped the cookalong. Finally put it on last Saturday and what a fantastic meal! I have tried it since with other fish as a supper dish and it is divine. Go GOrdon!

  5. I really enjoy the Cook along Live shows and will be trying the Angel Pasta Dish myself. I think Patsy Kensit was the best really enjoyed that particular show. Met Gordon yesterday in Selfridges at his book signing, what a nice man he is, I was so shy lost for words when I met him. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping us interested in cooking Gordon. You're the best!

  6. The programme concept is great, as is Gordon. Totally agree with comment about about Amanda Holden! Marsala wine is often available in Italian delicatessen shops. If Kathleen is in the Edinburgh area, she could try Volvona & Corolla at the top end of Leith Walk.

  11. Yes, Amanda Holden was painful, wasn't she? Still, enjoyed watching the fabulous Gordon cooking. To a previous post, I would say try linguine - rice noodles will be too slippery and not give enough bite.

  12. I've just tried the angel hair pasta with crab, but could only get tinned crab. It was delicious! My 12 year old daughter does not like any type of fish and she loved it as well. Thanks Gordon.

  13. We are huge fans of Gordon Ramsay but we didn't enjoy this weeks as much because Amanda Holden couldn't keep her mouth shut for two mins!! Pleased to see she was suitably embarrassed when Gordon's wife appeared on screen! What a silly attention seeking woman! Recipe was fab though.

  14. I watched cook a long this week 07/11 and looved the show and the idea of all 3 recipes, I am considering buying one of Gordan's books and would like a suggestion of the best one that includes these and more. Kindest Regards

  15. I have used a recipe almost exactly like this but with scallops rather than crab. I developed the recipe myself so was delighted to see Gordon using the same combination of flavours. I will now have the confidence to serve this to friends and am going to try out the crab version tonight. Thanks for an inspiring show.

  16. Can we have a little less of the celebs please? And a little more watch GR cook? A few more GR lookalikes would be a laugh though!

  17. I was just saying to my husband that Gordon was not swearing as much and how nice the show was without it ,then Amanda Holden had to spoil it all and lower the tone she ruined it for us.

  18. Amanda Holden was a pain, she tried to steal the show. I used to think she was tasty, she is really just 'off'. It detracted from Gordons' demo. Guests fine, but lets see the demo.

  19. This show is perfect for bonding families together in the kitchen, so to have someone (Amanda Holden) constantly making sexual inuendos and mentioning her boyfriend's manhood was totally unsuitable. What an idiot.

  21. I could only get tinned crab meat too despite trying every supermarket since the ingredients list was pubished! There's no fishmongers here! We're also using rice noodles as they're wheat free and we have a wheat intolerant guest - hope it turns out ok!
