Four British processed food junkies head to Pakistan to try one of the healthiest diets in the world
The British diet is at an all time low. 75% of Brits are overweight, 25% are obese and 4 million Brits are malnourished. England is officially the fourth fattest nation in the world and Scotland fare even worse ranked second. It's time for some extreme diet therapy.
Four brave volunteers, all processed food addicts, are going to spend a month with the Shimshal people of Northern Pakistan, who are reputed to follow one of the healthiest diets on the planet. A month living well should bring down their fat, cholesterol and stress levels - it will even sort out the density of their faeces.
And to give the Shimshal a taste of Britain, our volunteers will be bringing some of their favourite convenience foods with them and setting up a kitchen in Pakistan complete with microwave ovens, deep fat fryers and can openers.
Will the Shimshal take to tinned ravioli? Will the lardy Brits lap up fresh fruit and yak meat? This reality TV experiment weighs up traditional cuisine versus modern processed food. Will it find it wanting?
