The turning point for Gok was getting on to a performing arts course at Leicester College when he was 17. He goes back to meet his old drama tutor and relive some happy memories.
Gok has avoided all photos of himself from his 'fat years' and is dreading confronting the past. With much trepidation he sits down to watch his first ever stage performance – 'The Wild Washer Women'. "F**k me, I was massive," he exclaims.
After graduating from college Gok moved to London and lost nine stone in just eight months. It was a tough time: "The decision to lose the weight didn't come easily. I was scared; would I still be the same person at the end of it? Would I know myself?"
