We all know that what we eat has an impact on our health but do we really know how far reaching those effects are?

In this hard-hitting programme, the hidden threats of some of our favourite foods will be examined, and assessed as Jamie Oliver, a doctor and Gunther von Hagens look at what we're really putting into our bodies.

From the birth of a processed pie to the death of a fast food addict, they examine what we eat today and tell us the facts about the real effects of unhealthy eating.

As well as hosting the programme, Jamie Oliver will be looking at just what goes into processed foods and how they are made.

The effects of a fast food diet will be looked at as a group of human 'guinea pigs' have their health assessed by the doctor.

Finally anatomist Dr Gunther von Hagens conducts a human dissection to bring home the ultimate price of poor diet and obesity.

  3. Hi, I agree with the comment made by Jill Colless regarding the poor quality of hospital food. My father died in hospital this week, having spent 14 weeks suffering the debilitating symptoms of ulcerative colitis and c-difficile. Although tolerating the hospital food for the first few weeks, in the end he said he couldn't bear the thought of eating the bland, tasteless dishes that were being offered to him. He began to eat less and less and ended up being fed tbrough a gastric tube. Ultimately, he began to lose weight and I feel that his under-nourishment must surely have contributed to his death (he died of hypovolemic shock). Please, please can the Government pay more attention to the quality of food in hospitals? Jamie, you would be an ideal figurehead for a campaign to improve standards, following your success with improving the diets of school children.

  5. Hi i have just watched Jamie's show on channel 4, I think it is fantastic what Jamie is doing but would like to ask him please please can you make your next project looking into hospital food, my son goes into hospital in Leeds every 8 weeks, the food is as i was told by staff pre-cooked in Wales and trucked to Leeds to be warmed and served, the food on the childrens wards is real bad and very similar to the food that was served in schools bfore Jamie worked his magic, it is all frozen meals, 16 yrs ago the food was all well balanced and healthy home cooked and was so tasty, the food served now is bland and tasteless so say the least it is bloody horrible, i would love Jamie just to check out the meals in hospitals because if they are not giving out healthy balanced home cooked meals, what is the point in trying to edcucate people to eat healthy.
