It's Christmas at River Cottage and Hugh's in the mood for some hearty fare. He's hoping to host a fantastic Christmas party and, to get the cottage looking festive, he's trimming up inside and out.
That's all very idyllic but, as Hugh admits, Christmas is not without its controversies. We're talking sprouts of course. Tim, the Canteen chef, is violently opposed to the little green veg. But Hugh is adamant you can't have Christmas without sprouts.
Time for a sprout challenge: Hugh, Tim and Gill are out to each invent a recipe that will convince sprout doubter Tim of the glory of the veg. Whichever recipe wins will take its hallowed place at the Christmas dinner table.
Gill deep-fries the sprouts with a bit of black pudding. Hugh's keeping it more traditional and cooks his sprouts with garlic and the sprout shirker himself, Tim, goes for a complete redesign and creates a unique take on salsa verde or should we say sprouts-a-verde. Which would you prefer?
