Hugh has started a new initiative called Landshare which unites people wanting to grow their own food with space where they can grow it. But there's just not enough to go round. Hugh sets off in search of potential plots.
There are hundreds of organisations in the UK with land on their hands and one of the biggest of the bunch is the Church of England. Hugh meets up with two venerable vicars from West London to size up their plot.
Hugh estimates the site is big enough for 20 to 30 allotments and if other parishes got involved the impact could be gigantic. "If just one in 10 of London's churches were able to find a plot of land – you'd have 40 or 50 plots," calculates Hugh. "That's got to be worth looking at."
