"Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning," muses Hugh and indeed it seems to be a sign that his sheep are on the loose. There's a hole in his hedge, and his frisky flock, who are amorously awaiting a visit from a ram, seem poised for flight. Time to hedge the gap.
Hugh calls in hedge mending partners, Nigel and Lucy, and together the trio set about bending saplings into a hedge-shaped frame and pegging them in with leftover wood. The saplings should then continue growing naturally on their hedge bent course. Let's hope it's not easily rammed.
