Channel 4’s very own Hugh is back and ready to get down in the shrubbery with a new series of River Cottage…

Having taken on Tesco in Channel 4’s Great British Food Fight, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall returns to River Cottage HQ for a brand new series that explores and celebrates the very best food that spring and summer have to offer.

As always, Hugh rustles up a range of impressive dishes, using the finest seasonal produce that is available and tasty right now. From peas to strawberries, Hugh’s picking ‘em. But it’s not all work and no play - there’s parties galore with Hugh throwing a sheep shearing party, making a boozy prickly gorse flower brew and hosting an almighty great strawberry festival.

The launch of the land linking website Landshare has been a huge success, and Hugh will also be celebrating this success during the show, with a look into the benefits and brilliance of the scheme to get people ‘growing their own’.

Get your wellies on - show airs 8pm, Tuesdays on Channel 4.

  5. oh come on hugh. How many families have left over roast lamb or grey mullet? It costs the average family more money for your expensive lentils and herbs than starting from scratch. Very disappointed.... and I always loved your programmes

  6. Wow Hugh is olympic class at "heading" a pint! Brilliant show, wish they'd have shown skinning the dogfish first before cooking the curry. Top man, top show. Comments by Terry - The seas were calm, boat was small - "why O why" do people moan about things when the risk was far less than crossing a road! I'm sure the HM would have suggested it had the conditions been less favourable.

  9. I would just like to say that I totally agree with Hugh's approach! I do not eat veal much because of the issues of them not having any life or any respect! But having watched another FANTASTIC program I maybe will look for these new well looked after animals!! Also I just want to add that thanks for Hugh I now have chickens and ducks and we have not eaten any value chickens since this time last year! if I buy chicken for the shop it has to be corn fed or organic! We totally LOVE having our own animals and Hugh has helped us and well THANK YOU!

  10. A relevant fact not highlighted (to help people decide on the veal issue) is that the full natural life span of a cow is about twice as long as that of a sheep or pig.

  11. Just watched the show and enjoyed muchly. I did think that there was now the option for dairy farmers to purchase selected semen thereby avoiding the need to slaughter or find more acceptable methods of using unwanted bull calves. Perhaps I have misunderstood?

  12. I watched tonights programme and enjoyed it, especially the part about veal. We live in southern France, in the Aveyron area, where veal is a speciality of the region. Our calves are reared in the open air, with their mothers, and are in superb condition, and delicious too. Please tell Hugh that it is not all of Europe that is inhumane, our farmers really care for their animals.
