1. Taking on Tesco

Last year Hugh went on a chicken mission to expose the welfare conditions of Britain's favourite meat.
Around 850 million chickens are produced each year in the UK, most of them as 'standard' birds, reared in intensive conditions without access to natural light. Believing living, feeling creatures deserve a better life, Hugh set up his own factory farm and took his message to his local community, the poultry industry and the nation's supermarkets.
The response was amazing. Free range chickens flew off the shelves and three major supermarkets banished the standard bird. But Tesco, the UK's biggest chicken retailer, won't be knocked off its perch and continue to sell cheap, factory farmed meat standard reared birds.
It's time for Hugh to up the ante and take on Tesco - from the inside.
