Gordon is off early the next day on the hunt for some local inspiration. A quick tour of the surrounding countryside throws up a host of local farms selling top notch seasonal produce. "It's a chef's dream," he tells the ladies in the orchard.
Back at the restaurant, Gordon tries to transfer his enthusiasm onto lacklustre Brian but to no avail. "It's a fucking apple," shrugs Brian. "What do you want me to do? Jump up and down?"
Their squabbling is beginning to get to Chris. "It's like being around your parents when they're arguing," he sighs. Chris' mum will be delighted.
Undeterred by Brian's lack of gusto, Gordon sets to work teaching Chris a new pork dish with caramelised Braeburn apples. Before long the orders are coming thick and fast. Yet Brian is still not feeling the need for speed. Gordon is losing the will to live.
