A year on and the balance is finally right with no super-saver signs but lots of customers. The Mixing Bowl is attracting four times as many customers and recently made the list of Top 20 best restaurants in Long Island.
Mike is still there but he's a changed man; cool, calm, collected and best of all, getting on with the staff.
"Mike's not yelling, I'm not yelling, no-one's yelling - it's nice!" says a much cheerier Lisa.
The locals are loving the new healthy menu and the restaurant is packed to the rafters. Maybe that's got something to do with the 'family' portrait in the window, featuring the Mixing Bowl staff - and Gordon.
Mike says: "Not every business gets a second chance - we don't take anything for granted."
Gordon says: "I'm really proud. Really proud and happy that it's going so well. Don't stop."
