Gordon's been busy touring the United States, bringing dream solutions to nightmare kitchens. Now he heads back to the restaurants he helped last time to see if the changes he made have kept them in business.
Finn McCool's - last time
Finn McCool's was an Irish restaurant in New York's exclusive beach resort, the Hamptons. But there was nothing fancy about the family running it. Dad, Buddy, was at war with son and head chef, Brian, who was more keen on drinking the profits than making them.
With the restaurant losing $20,000 a month, Buddy's other son, Jason, was reduced to tears, worrying that his father could lose his life savings in the failing family business.
Worse than the fighting was the food. Nothing was fresh and the sloppy shepherd's pie proved the nail in coffin for Gordon, forcing him to leg it to the loo.
In a bid to save this family, Gordon brought his own family's shepherd's pie recipe to Finn McCool's kitchen.
