1. was this the episode where jamie shot an alligator twice in the head before lopping its feet off, forcing air into its carcass to aid ripping its skin from its body and chopping it into bite-sized chunks for the barbecue? utterly revolting. i have seen animals humanely slaughtered for food and have no objections to people eating meat if they choose to but this was disgusting. jamie is a tv-hungry wannabe desperate to participate in any stunt necessary to gain viewers. i hope the alligator wins next time.

I personally think Vivienne is wrong, end of the day he went there to taste american cuisine and tradition and thats what that is, end of the day its food, we all need it, and as long as they arnt hunted into exsinction then its fine, im a chef and like Jamie i dont see a poor lil aligator i see potential in a meal, im resourcful and i use produce that isnt endangered, Bravo Mr Oliver

3. Pfff. The croc is a pest there, there are too many of them. Killing them is something they're allowed to do, though there is a strict limit to ensure the population doesn't get too low. It's like trapping a rat in a trap, which is pretty nasty if the trap doesn't kill it straight away and that's happening all the time in the UK. There is no trap that could kill a croc and poisoning them isn't viable either. Shooting is the best way, and I really admired the way they used the carcass and didn't waste anything.

4. Disgusting. Utterly disgusting. Oliver shows zero respect for this animal. After everything he tried to teach us, after all the respect he commanded after making people aware of what they were eating, he blew it away, literally. I will never watch or buy anything to do with this idiot again. Shame on you.

I have learnt to respect Jamie Oliver, not my cup of tea but a talented chef and seems to genuinely care, I was delighted when he linked with Tinity Hospice in Clapham with a great idea to encourage people to cook with friends and raise money for a wonderful charity. I live in Battersea and despite initial reservations about his shop Recipise I now shop there regularly, its good value and great ingredients. But I was dismayed and angry watching the crocodile execution last night on channel 4. I eat meat and watch various programs educating us where meat comes from: but this was something else. This was a wild animal slaughtered with no sensitivity or skill and it was disturbing to watch. Despite his 'explaination' of his father taking him to shoot rabbits this was a disgrace. I lived in New Orleans and I think that woman was not a true representation of the people or the pratice. Sometimes its more important to challenge than agree, I will be haunted by that wild beast staring up and being shot repeatedly. Shame on him and shame on Channel 4.
