Next up, Jamie wants to learn about soul food.
"I know all the clichés about the chicken fried this and that but I really don't know what I'm talking about," he admits.

Nicky Bush, one of Savannah's top soul food cooks, explains the term dates back to days when slaves were given the very worst bits of meat that were being thrown out as trash. The people cooking it put their soul into their dishes to make delicious food out of the very cheapest ingredients.

Jamie cooks Nicky his version of Georgia's favourite dish, sausage and shrimp with grits and greens, but to pass muster, he'll have to impress Nicky's 81 year old mother.
"Mr Jamie, you'll have to come a little bit tighter with your salt," says Mum.
They sure like their seasoning in the South.

Hi JohnHarris - same thing happened to me. You can watch the end yourself on 4OD (link on right of page). After loading, move scroll bar to about 45 minute point - you'll have to wait through a couple more adverts, then it'll carry on from just before the competition results.

allright i was well impressed with the bbq episode how everyone just cam together and cheaky jamie just blended in with every one it was ace the slow cooked meat was the best and now im inspired to cook stuff like that thanks alot jamie and the team there should be more shows like this on tv!!! thanks again adam thomas 24 from corby northants

Georgia Programme was fantastic!!! Not just because of their food and the BBQ, but we could feel a bit of their reality, racism and how their live through out all the difficulties.

What another ace programme tonight Jamie! Looked like you enjoyed the BBQ comp.... just one comment that you made that you may be pleased to know isn't completely accurate. You said that there wasn't anything like this in the UK... BUT there is... The British BBQ Society has a regional comps in the UK and has a team currently competing in The American Royal, of which my husband is a member. Despite calling myself a BBQ widow, I must admit that I am slightly green eyed and can just imagine the atmosphere of a comp with 350 teams entered, and seeing the Pig Fest I just feel excited for the team. As well as cooking up some lovely food there is a real sense of community within the Society, where my family have met some true friends for life. Thanks for taking the time to read, Claire
