Budgets may be tight, but Jamie Oliver's determined to have an amazing and inexpensive Christmas

This hour-long special will be packed with his favourite festive dishes to bring Christmas cheer to your table. The chef's Essex home is wreathed in decorations and he's cooking food for the whole season, with help from his mentor, Gennaro Contaldo.

As well as Christmas classics, Jamie has some ingenious ideas - beyond turkey sandwiches - to make the most of some of your key ingredients, like a zesty Asian-style warm turkey salad for Boxing Day and a tasty turkey and leek pie.

Jamie cooks a ham to last the whole Christmas season. He'll also be making tempting chocolate truffles and frozen grapes for an instant party livener as well as showing us how to use festive spices - such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves - to best effect, like his super-quick Christmas popcorn and amazing baked figs.

There will be a Jamie-style twist on a classic, with a Christmas pudding sundae, complete with ice cream and amoretti biscuits. Meanwhile, Gennaro has a few festive tricks up his sleeves.

  1. Well I am guessing that budgets are going to be even tighter this year and I hope Jamie has something even more special than last year planned. He always comes up with the goods and I will definitely be looking forward to see what this years surprises will be!

  8. I've just stopped watching Jamie Oliver's Christmas programme before it finished. He may have good ideas but for a professional chef shows very little professionalism when it comes to hygeine. Constantly licking fingers but no hand washing. Absolutely disgusting.

  22. Hi. 4 food ed, everybody it seams are having problems in locating various recipies, you say in replies that they are on the site shortly after the show but this is obviously not the case. Are the recipies to be found anywhere , if so then where. This is the first time I have used the site but it appears as though I may be wasting my time as are others. The program is excellant, the man is excellant, the recpies he does are excellant but it all falls down if the public cannot locate the recipies that you say are here. Please explain

  24. For sheer entertainment value I doubt whether the last 2 nights programmes can be beaten. What a great double act Jamie and Geno make. On the cooking side the take on mince pies was great (trying today) and the explanation of how to carve the goose and turkey made so much sense

I watched the programme with my 7 year old son and have just printed off as many recipies as we could find, as he is going to do them all this xmas :) There was one that he particularly wanted and that was the one where the cauliflower changed colour due to the acid/alkaline. Was the Cauliflower pre-treated if so with what? If you could send this recipe I would be very grateful. Merry Christmas everyone and heres hoping for a peaceful New Year. x
