Sorrel is a hardy perennial herb which is grown for its edible leaves - these have a sharp lemony flavour and are used for making sorrel soup, mixing into summer salads or adding flavour to omelettes and sandwiches.
They can also be cooked like spinach and turned into a purée for serving with rich meats and fish dishes.
