Varieties to try

There are lots of rhubarb varieties that are easy to grow and some of the best include:

An early variety with sweet-tasting pink-tinged stems.

A vigorous grower with vivid red colouring.

An early, largely trouble-free variety that has a long cropping season and produces tender red-pink stems.

A flavoursome pink-stemmed type which is perfect for forcing or normal cropping.

Having moved to Bulgaria in March 2009 , we brought with us two rubarb plants that took really well over here . We have had some really good pickings off it up to now . Please can anyone advise on the best way to protect the plants with the oncoming winter . Also do i cut back remaining leaves or just leave them to die down on there own .Thanking you .

some useful tips but not sure if you should just leave the rhubarb to die back or cut down in the autum
