The pressure on supermarkets has never been greater, with competition at its fiercest and shoppers guarded with their hard-earned cash.
Consumers have a bigger choice of store than ever before, meaning each supermarket must work hard to maintain its loyal following.
Seven out of 10 shoppers admit they'd ditch a supermarket because of poor service, but few customers bother to tell the store their complaint.
For Sainsbury's, customer service is serious business. Settle a complaint successfully and customers become more loyal than before, but leave it unsettled and shoppers will vote with their feet.
