Hi, Thanks for making Indian cuisine a part of your program but it seems surprising that from all the statistics you mentioned regarding the Indian restaurant you couldn't find a single authentic Indian restaurant. In fact you picked 2 Bangladeshi restaurants cooking Bangladeshi food under Indian cuisine banner. I am a big fan of F word and yourself but I thought that the category for Indian cuisine was not justified. I am disappointed but it makes me no less fan of yours.

2. can anyone tell me the name of the song played in the background when Gordon is talking about how Lasan make their samosas? It's from a film that I have watched and its really annoying me that I cant think where its from.

3. Ate at Curry Corner last night, only the third time I have set foot inside an Indian (or similar) type of restaurant. Great meal, wine list was good (Gewurztraminer and Viognier smart choices), only issue was slow service at the start ... but the place was heaving. Will definitely go again.

5. Indian food is about eating. You go to Lasans and order a mix grill and you get two baby samosa's, half a sheek kebab cut in half to make two portions, and two pieces of chicken and not to forget the bit of green. The restaurant is for arty farty types. Have even tried their "banquet" and it reminded me of primary school servings. They smile delightfully when you ask them when are you going to serve the "banquet". Food looks good but just like the restuiarant its all plasterboard!

6. Dr Y - the point about stunning an animal is that it cannot thereafter feel pain. An unstunned animal, bleeding to death suffers considerable pain for a prolonged period - and that is best case scenario dependant upon the skill of the individual slaughter man. It is completely uneccessary. Personally, I think your comment about adrenalin is a excuse designed to scare monger and appease challenge to belief. Where is the scientific evidence to say that is unhealthy - if in fact it is actually true? It is absolutely right to expect and demand the highest standards of welfare in meat production. Halal and Kosher methods can not ever be aligned to this ethos. Compassion in World Farming, The British Veterinary Association and The Farm Animal Welfare Council are all respected bodies arguing for the abolition of this practice because animals are caused unecessary suffering. It is belief rooted in selfishness and arrogance that demands meat be drained of blood and nothing at all to do with the arguement you try to present in defence of barbaric practice. It is outdated, based in myth and simply not good enough in any modern supposedly civilised society.

9. LynneM - the reason for slitting an animal's throat whilst it is alive is so that the still-beating heart ensures that blood is pumped out of the body and therefore the meat that is eaten, ensuring healthier and longer-lasting meat. It is kinder to the animal to rapidly slit it's throat so that it dies by almost instantly falling asleep as opposed to any other method. If you look at authentic Kosher and Halal slaughtering the advantage to humans and animals is clearly evident. Abatoirs which stun or shock the animals first ensure that the animal releases lots of adrenaline and cortisol which in turn are consumed by people and this is not only a clear health hazard but also a horrible way for the animal to die.

11. WOW! The show was SOO cool! really enjoyed it, though I wanted the Curry Corner to win as it seemed he was cooking with passion, rather then the new kid on the block! He's good but seems like there was no passion there?! Anyhow, I have a request, the sound tracks trhough out the show was cool, & was wondering if anyone out there knows the names of the tracks???

13. Great show. I wanted Curry Corner to win as their cooking was from the heart while Lassan was from the head. But, as always the real winner was food, it's great that both restaurants can thrive and that local Indian restaurants do so well. I love regional Indian cookery and my favourite curry experience was a Gujarati thail in Baroda - the food was divine and the service a work of art, about 16 diffferent dishes served on a silver platter and topped up before you could finish them, served by regally regailed waiting staff. Superb.

14. Does it matter that Indian restaurants are run by Bengalis, Indians or Burmese for that matter? Thee are fantastic French restaurants run by Englishman, great Italian restaurants run by Frenchman. Does if detract from their quality? I say no. Indian food by it's very nature is eclectic, with chillis from the Portuguese, potatoes from America, coriander from the far east. The Lasan team have shown that they can combine every flavour and create something unique and delicious, who cares where they came from. By the way, I'm certain the head chef of Lasan is born and need British.

16. Indian? I thought both restaurants were Bengali (as are most 'Indian' restaurants). How about encouraging regional Indian cooking from Kerala, Goa, North India. According to a Gujarati friend of mine, Itihaas in Fleet Street, Birmingham has some cracking food and in his opinion better than Lasan, but I shall look forward to trying both

18. HI Mo, if you watch again before he cooks the meat he says this deer was killed and slaughtered by Mo so is halal. In the clip where we see him slit the throat of the deer he is just demonstrating what would be required in the slaughter itself, they don't actually eat that deer. Good point though - i noticed it at the time and had to check.

19. By sheer coincidence my friend and I ate at Lassan last week and were delighted to see them win. We were on our way to a concert and the service was hugely efficient and the food delightful - if only there were more Indian restaurants making this kind of effort!

21. As a regular diner at Lasan - and proud to say this is my 'local', I was delighted to see Aktar, Jabbar and the team succeed in their challenge. This is an absolutely fabulous restaurant - great food and great people. Their 'win' is thoroughly deserved and justified reward for their hard work over the past years. Well done!

23. Great show, as someone who thoroughly enjoys indian cuisine, I was very impressed with the attitude of the Lasan team. I have spent a lot of time in the Indian subcontinent and I can honestly say that I have never seen fish served like the Curry Corner effort (i can also say that tikka massalla is not served anywhere in india or bangladesh for that matter), suffice to say I have never seen a fluroscent yello curry in my life. Atleast Lasan were being unashamedly modern in their cooking. Hats off to them!

24. I thought curry corner should definitely have won!! Those studio guests obviously too easily impressed with attempts to "modernise" at the expense if delicately flavoured traditional cooking!

26. Slaughtering any animal by any method necesary to making it's meat Halal is unacceptable - no matter which faith demands it. There can be no justification whatsoever for causing unecessary suffering to any farmed or wild animal. Its very disappointing that this program has been hyprocrital in the face of a previously strong record of promoting high welfare standards in meat production. Badly done Gordon.

27. Great show - please could we get a list of the restaurants considered? I'm especially interested to know which was the one Gordon was in where he says the decor is terrible - he says its real authentic food served in a cafe setting at cafe prices? Dying to know where that was, it looks good!
