With competition at the forefront of their minds, the Griffin brigade watch closely as Gordon runs them through the starter of stir fried duck in lettuce cups.
"Don't over-season the duck," Gordon tells them, "you can always add…"
"But you can't take away," chime the enthusiastic amateurs.
Will they be so cheery when the orders start to stack up?
"Four duck, four sea bream, four mille feuille," calls Gordon.
"So that's one each?" asks Steve.
"Do two each," says Joan, "two and two."
"Do one table of four each," says Gordon.
Never mind the cookery; it looks like the brigade needs a maths lesson.
There's no arguing with the numbers when the results come in though. A smashing 46 out of 50 diners agree to pay. The grafting Griffins are off to a great start.
