Stock up your cupboards - it's time to take part in Cookalong Live: The series week 6

You will need (serves 4)

Fruit and veg aisle

Limes

1 small red onion, peeled
1 large onion, peeled
1 red chilli
2 fresh green chillies
1” piece of ginger, peeled
3 garlic cloves, peeled
1 lime, zest and juice
4 medium oranges
½ pomegranate, seeds only
Large bunch mint
Large bunch fresh coriander, chopped

In the fridges and freezer

Minced lamb

350g lamb mince
4 boneless chicken breasts (approx 150g each), cubed
Approx 450ml natural yoghurt

Bakery and baking

Chilli powder

400g basmati rice, rinsed
½ tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp garam masala
Pinch ground cloves
½ tsp fennel seeds
½ tsp pink peppercorns (or white if pink are unavailable)
2 tsp turmeric powder
10 dried curry leaves
3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
2 star anise
1 tbsp soft brown sugar
150g caster sugar
1 tbsp tomato puree
400g tinned chopped tomatoes
1 egg yolk

Condiments

Oil

Groundnut oil
Salt and pepper
Approx 600ml cold water

  1. During the 6th programme it was mentioned by the guest chef that the egg was left out to make the dish gluten free. This is wrong as egg does not contain gluten and I fear that some viewers may misinterpret the message. Gluten refers to proteins primarily from wheat, rye, and barley.
