  2. A fantastically fun activity to do with your partner! Really enjoyed it, although found comedian a bit off putting and irritating! I recommend recording it and then following it so you can pause when needed!

  3. I have spoilt my taste buds, after having taken part in the cook along and then eating the food... my taste buds want more of the same!!!!!!! it was so much fun taking part, i did this with my sister in law and friend and we needed each other to be able to keep up with Gordon, but thats what made it fun, rushing around the kitchen preparing and then at the end sitting down and enjoying the delicious food that we couldnt quite believe we had cooked! I admire what Jamie oliver is doing, trying to 'pass it on' and having watched his programmes,i am quite scepticle that it is going to work, so perhaps Jamie should tune in to Gordon's programme to make 'food' more enjoyable/fun and to get people off their couches and get in the kitchen with their friends/family and enjoy the cooking. i am waiting in anticipation for next weeks menu to be published so i can organise my friday evening cookalong.

  5. I quite enjoy the show, but - despite the novelty of having some guest celebrity as a sidekick - I find that their inability to keep up with the cooking, feigned (or at least exaggerated) ineptitude and constant bellowing really grate on me after the first 10-15 minutes. This makes it all a pain to watch overall and I'm glad when it's over. The producers should get rid of that lot and keep Gordon as the unfettered centrepiece because he's the show's clear (and only) asset.

  11. Your tv add said you could cook a three course meal for under 10 pound. can you please tell me how you work out your sums. I can assure you that in my local supermarket this would not be possible. You would even find this a challenge in lidls, and they are cheap. do you not think this is misleading to the general public. I was looking forward to the cook-along, but was very dissapointed.

  15. hi gordon, i think the cook along is fab, except the layout of my house stops me hearing or seeing the tv from the kitchen! so i have recorded last week's programme so i can stop and pause while i goto the kitchen trying to cook..... trust me, this is not as much fun then it turn out to be! my hubbby is also a big fan of ur food! so i suggested to him to either knock through the wall of the living room, ( kitchen is next to the living room) or buy me another tv for the kitchen! but sadly he said no to both! i am really angry with him as he was not being supportive at all! oh well i guess i will have to record it again tonight then! can't wait! enthusiast jo

  19. Dear Gordon I have admired your achievements for years but I have to criticise your "three course meal for under £10" boast. If you do not already have all of the stock items in your cupboard, it will cost a lot more than £10. You cannot buy a tablespoon of tomato puree or a dash of olive oil or a pinch of nutmeg etc.etc..... I would be interested to see the actual bill for the above list of ingredients for week 2 !! Please keep it real, my food budget at the moment for my husband and I is approx £25.00, that's breakfast, lunch and dinner for two (42 food servings/ meals per week ). Thanks Honest Wendy

  22. Dear Gordon, thank you so much for last weeks cook- along we realy enjoyed the food with two of our friends from up the road. We did however have a disaster I asked Paul to take some phots of the evening and somehow I have lost 250 or more lovley photos of the family and of our hoildays I have yet to tell him. (Paul that is) know it is my fault as we didnt put the photos on a disc. Still we are really looking forward to this week and we are asking more friends from along the road Hopefully this time I will have photos to post on the site this time.

  24. GUYS!! If you want the individual ingredients and recipe then just search the site for it - they're all there! If you simply search for Lasagne, you will find the lasagne recipe/ingredients for cookalong live in the list. Then you don't have to buy the ingredients for every course. hope this helps

  25. Looking forward to this Fridays cookalong. We had a great time last Friday although we found it hard to keep up with Gordon, even after I had spent about three hours preparing everything beforehand. My son doesnt eat fish so he cooked a steak in the middle of all the mayhem - it was crazy! Roll on Friday ...

  27. Does anyone know what 'non-cook' lasagne sheets are? Does this eman fresh lasagne sheets?? Posted by VictoriaL on 28/10/2008 10:25:34 The non-cook lasagne sheets are found in the dried pasta aisle, but u can put them straight on top of meat and pour sauce over they cook in the oven and dont need soaking like the original ones used to. Hope this helps.

  32. Nadine, Yes that is watercress. VictoriaL, 'non-cook' lasagne sheets are dry sheets that do not requre pre-cooking. some dry sheets need soaking for 10/ 15 mins, just read the packet it'll tell you on the box if it needs pre cooking or not.

  34. Last weekend my 16 year old son Will washed his hands, emptied out the baked beans and I got all stressed and agitated rolling out the pastry for Gordons Cookalong Live Programme! I know its all part of the act to get you rushed off your feet and stressed but what fun it was! Will loves bossing me about cutting veg and washing up pans! But what struck me is that its a great activity for a family with teen kids, to get us all laughing, working together and spending quality time with each other doing something really different. I coach a lot of families with teenagers going through the Kevin and Perry stage as a Parent Coach but getting together on a Friday night and cooking was brilliant fun so I recommended it on my blog to my parents as a new idea to help families build some bridges and knock down a few walls! I have to say we loved the salmon en croute but couldnt buy any rhubarb for neither love nor money in Sainsburys in East Grinstead so dont know what happened there Gordon! Heres to Friday. its my turn to cook the minted pea and watercress veloute and boss the others around just up my street! Sue Atkins Author of "Raising Happy Children for Dummies"

  35. I'd just like to say that whilst last week's cookalong was a great success and most enjoyed, we find this website to be badly designed with navigation between pages confused and awkward. May I also recommend that ingredients are split for courses as they were last week. Top notch food however and we shall be joining in again this week! All the best Becs

  38. Non-cook lasagne sheets can be dried - most seem to be non-cook these days - it just saves you clatting about and cooking them before hand. Best way to check is to read the instructions on the packet - it will say something like 'no pre-cooking necessary.

  42. Is there any chance the actual ingredients can be displayed for each dish, I am wanting to do the cooking but never eat puddings as I have a tendency to get fat. I know its prob obvious which bits I should not buy but along with the wholewheat lasagne I would love indivdual recipes.

  47. Is this the 4 eat for a tenner menu?? I've just put all the ingredients into tesco online- total comes to £24.00 exactly. I appreciate that most cooks would have things like bay leaves, olive oil, nutmeg etc, but there are lots who wouldn't have them and its a bit misleading as you wouldn't be able to go out with a ten pound note and buy everything- i appreciate that per portion the figures may add up for eating in for £10 is aint!
