Stock up your cupboards - it's time to take part in Cookalong Live: The series week 2

You will need (serves 4)
Salt, pepper and olive oil are required for both starter and main courses

Starter: Minted pea and watercress veloute

Minted pea veloute

½ white onion
4 slices smoked streaky bacon
500g frozen peas, thoroughly defrosted
60g watercress
20g (or small bunch) fresh mint leaves
550ml boiling water
Approx 30ml double cream

Main: Gordon's lasagne al forno

Gordon's lasagne

½ large onion
1 large carrot
2 cloves garlic, peeled
2 pinches dried oregano
300g minced beef
1 tablespoon tomato puree
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
Approx 30ml (2 tbsp) red wine
1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes
50ml milk

For the sauce:
25g butter
25g flour
300ml milk
Pinch of ground nutmeg
60g Cheddar cheese
30g Parmesan cheese
6 sheets of ‘non-cook’ lasagne sheets

For the salad:
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1 x round lettuce head, washed and dried

Dessert: Lemon and lime syllabub

500ml double cream
1 lemon, zest and juice
1 lime, zest and juice
75g icing sugar
50g crushed Ginger nut biscuits

  2. Wow, what fun all the family had from the shopping list to eating and eve clearing up!! The boys actually did the cooking and what fun it was with all of us in kitchen preparing, cooking, laughing and eating. A brilliant way for all the family to be together - roll on next Friday.

  4. I have loved all of the shows. I can't wait for the second one in this series tonight. I'm gutted though because i'm getting a new kitchen fitted at the moment so won't be able to join in properly until next week. It doesn't matter though as it is just as enjoyable to watch even though i'm not taking part.

  5. I loved the first week, it was briliiant so i am going to cook along with the credit crunch week this time. ITS GONNA BE GREAT! Patsy Kensit ruined last week she kept chatting, shut up we aint got time for that. Gordon is an amazing chef, and such a joker. I love him. peace cant wait til 9pm =]

  6. I love cooking and really wanted to watch Gordon but thought my 16 year old son would find it "boring" needless to say we had a fun friday night and we watched and laughed together, brilliant and we both learned something, keep it up
