  3. Gordon you are BRILLIANT! Week one was a fantastic menu, very tasty and relatively simple to cook too. The programme is excellent and highly amusing (although Patsy Kensit was rather annoying and clearly wanted to be the centre of attention) - not gonna happen Kensit, Gordon is gorgeous, unbelievably talanted, commands respect, is funny and his passion for what he does shines through time after time, after time. Come on Gordon, get a REAL guest on to cook with you - I'd be up for it!!! As for all the moaners, if it's too late, record it. Don't like the ingredients, substitute or wait for alternative menu, offensive? don't watch - that simple! Keep up the great work Gordon - we love you and what you do!!

  6. I watched the repeated version the next day on Sky at 8pm(!) with my girlfriend and what's driven me to write this is that we were appalled by the language, most of which by the horrible Patsy Kensit. We imagined many families not being able to watch it as it was on far too early (even the 9pm live version the previous day in my opinion). To be fair, Gordon was pretty funny and clean for his standards but Patsy Kensit ruined it completely with her moaning, her irritation with Gordon, her trying to be the centre of attention and her foul language and playground innuendos. When we finally switched off 10 minutes from the end we both felt really stressed! An episode of 24 afterwards seemed relaxing.

  7. I don't know how I managed to get this wrong: The ingredients list said 1kg of salmon - which I bought. My piece of salmon was literally twice the size of Gordon's though - it was all so quick I barely caught it but did he split the 1kg with Patsy so they had two 250g pieces each? We are going to be eating salmon for a week there's so much of it and it was also very expensive - it would have been useful if the ingredients list had said the 500g (to serve 4 people) that I'm pretty sure Gordon used, rather than the ginormous 1kg that even the fishmonger looked shocked at! Otherwise I did enjoy week 1 - though I spent at least an hour and a half preparing before the show and he STILL went too fast for me. It would be nice to have the ingredients for week 2 as well?

  8. I heard about the programme through a chap I work with who had a great time on Friday trying to keep up with Gordon. I fancy joining in myself, but would like to see all the menus posted on the web site so that I can plan my favourate and invite friends around to join in the cooking. I notice a few others would like this too. Any chance? Certainly, you do need the menu for the following Friday up straight after the last programme as many people shop at a weekend. Thanking you in anticipation. Kind regards Cathy

  9. Once again Gordon showed us how to make things simple -the menu was ideal for dinner for friends and the ingredients were affordable. The Menu downloaded had a surprise too - 50p off my next bottle of favourite beverage! I love the way he works, fast, funny and efficient - makes cooking more enjoyable!

  10. What ever happened to the ginger in the caramalised rhubarb and ginger crumble? Maybe i was too busy watching Patsy Kensit trot about the kitchen mumbling, mopping her brow and swearing :)I loved it, great tv, shame i haven't got a tv in my kitchen.

  13. Hi, Firstly great 1st week Gordon, loved it! However, I'm most disappointed that I cannot get the list of ingredients yet for week 2! I expected to be able to see the menu and ingredients for the following week almost straight after the 1st week? How are people expected to participate in the cookalong without knowing what's on the menu? I want to invite friends round for dinner but I need to know what I'm serving! Also I expect most people would buy the ingredients in their weekly shop at the weekend? I will keep checking but leaving it to the last minute will not be possible for everyone! Thanks Dawn x

  17. We didnt like the goats cheese or walnuts - oh well. We didnt have the pastry ready so the salmon was cooked without!! but was yummy. Then we missed how to do the caramelised rhubarb and made our own version with apples - which then stuck to pan!! so we had ice-cream instead. All in all it was good fun.Now we know our limits, but are still have a go at next weeks menu.!!

  19. I am not sure whether I was meant to be cooking, tossing or fu..ing! I am not an old purde, but is it all really necessary? Apart from that the programmes was good in that it did show you the method of completing each recipe. Cooking times and oven temperatures left a bit to be desired and it does necessitate going on to the website to get the complete recipe - a good thing may be as it lead to other things. I look forward to viewing the rest of the series as it does give me a incentive to cook recipes I might not normally try. Again - a lot less swearing would make the programme more watchable. Regards Jax

  20. I wish this was on earlier as well as my kids were very into helping and we wanted to eat it as a family. Unfortunately as they are 4, 6, and a baby we kept having to fast forward through the swearing! thus buggering up the timing. My husband made this, the caramel got dumped and we now need new pans but we would both definately use the menu again. very tasty

  22. I know this is supposed to be a fun format, but can the camera stop whirling around the studio and concentrate on what Gordon's doing on the worksurface. Too many times I looked up from what I was doing to see what how he was doing he had just mentioned for the camera to zoom back over the audience. Also Gordon, I know it's a bore, but it is not second nature to everybody - tell people to WAS THEIR HANDS, especially co-hosts when they grab you by the hair to kiss you. PS Nice to see that Gordon's swearing is all for show - he managed to get through most of the live show without it (only starting when Patsy did). In fact, it made the forced swearing in the cut-away segments sound all the more contrived and distracting.

  30. Was the most stressful thing that I have ever done, but me and my sister spent most of the time crying with laughter as we got most things wrong, was fab! We found it really hard to get rhubarb as most shops said it was out of season, used tinned instead though and was just as yummy, whole flat looked like a bomb site this morning though!

And to be able to duplicate his menu's will no aoubt be challenging as I'm only used to cooking kiddie food and simple recepies such as shephard's pie and homemade chille and curries. It will be different and exciting. I just hope I can keep up with Gordon! Can anyone tell me how to get next week's recepie and ingredient list? I want to be prepared for next week's cookalong. 38. Well, there seems to be two issues: 1. It's on too late - err, record it, Sky , video, DVD, whatever, it's not hard. I'm cooking the meal tomorrow and will watch it then. 2. I'm allergic to (insert food of choice) - tough, most of us aren't. I appreciate some people suffer real allergies but most on here seem to be more of the 'well I don't really like it' kind. Get over it, experiment.

  41. A very good concept that has excited me about cooking. However, Patsy was extremely irritating. Her lack of seriousness didn't help me to follow at all. Gordon is animated by nature, the last thing I need is to be distracted by someone clowning around. The show requires concentration and multi-tasking and having a guest who is not serious began to irritate me more and more half-way through the show. I hope future guests are better.

Im sure a tin would do or frozen if you cant find the one fresh in tesco which I found. And who says the whole thing has to cost 40.00, maybe I had a few items in my store cupboard already but im sure it shouldnt be that much money, you just have to shop around, im only using salmon fillets skinned and boned from Tesco for 3.23. Come on, have a party, get the wine out and have some fun!!! Nearly ready!!!

Gordon Ramsay has been in the resturant business for many years.....he knows what ingredients work together and if you don't like them then substitute for something else, it is a great idea and gets people trying new things, is that not the point? 79. I am pretty gutted about the food choice! OK I understand that its posh nosh but surely it's better to go for a twist on recipes and ingredients that most people enjoy. I think it's important to get Britain eating healthier but scaring the public off with aquired tastes is possibly a backwards step??Hopefully next week it will be something that people really feel passionate about!?

Some HP sauce would be ok too.Rubarb makes my face contort, doing it now, and ginger, well thats going to be strong. Cream I don't mind. Why can't we have sausage and mash, with some red onion jus?

Do you think they could show a repeat r something on a saturdy evening at 6 or something? I was looking forward to cooking for my sister who is coming over to see the family but can't as none of us want to sit there for most of the evening with rumbling stomachs. How many people do eat at 10 anyway?

Even tried to blag some from allotment owners but apparently rhubarb has been put to bed for the winter - what a lovely thought. Will have to make do with Frozen. We have friends joining us for the cookalong. Boys v girls. Let battle commence. Let's just hope that by 9.00 pm we are still in a sober enough state to grapple with pastry!

  129. my husband and i are really looking forward the the new series of cookalongs, we did the last one and now i make steaks like that all the time. in fact we had one of my collegues round last week and i made him the steak chips and rocket main last week. although i dont make the chocolate desert too often as we dont want to end up with dibetes! the cookalong was hectic but great fun, plus we were stuffed! i can see why people say its quite expensive, but i worked it out and the whole menu will come to about £40. now you would spend that in a restaurant easily, and this way you learn new skills and new recipies you can put your own spin on. were not big fish fans, but its very silly to say you dont like ALL of a certain type of food as there are so many different tastes and ways of cooking things. so were very prepared to be pleasantly suprised!

  154. Thanks Gordon for the opportunity to learn how to cook a decent, well balanced meal. OK, so the menu's not for everyone...come on people - stop complaining and adapt it a little to suit your taste! How boring would the world be if we all liked exactly the same food, plus there'd be a constant shortage on certain items and supermarkets would make a killing by putting their prices up on high demand products!!

  155. I'm not overly thrilled about the choices for the first menu so will probably do te starter for my partner and the main for me, we can share the pudding though. I also agree with statement about how late the show is going to be on. Eating that late can't be good for you, I've decided to Sky it then I'll do it at a normal time on the saturday. Good luck for friday everyone and happy cooking!!

  158. Yes I agree about the supermarkets getting the ingredients all together would be so much better and encourage more people. My twin sister and I are cooking it for our husbands! I am glad its 9pm start as got a little boy so want him tucked up in bed! Looking forward to it, don't like Goats Cheese myself but will still cook it and use some other cheese for me as an alternative. Good luck Gordon and everyone else!

  165. It would be helpful to know which ingredients relate to each dish, so if you do not want to make one of the courses you can buy the other ingredients. Where do the baked beans and white bread fit in? And hints of what to substitute the food with...for example is wholemeal bread instead of white okay? is peanut oil instead of walnut okay?

  169. I totally agree with "Nutty"'s comment about the late time of the show vis a vis an intended time of 10pm to eat the food. Much, much too late but wonder if it's due to the watershed and Gordon's & colourful language...?

  174. it's a shame that the first menu we were looking forward to trying features so much not suitable for a gluten-free diet. Of course the crumble is easy to alter but GF pastry certainly is more of a challenge and not easy to get right. maybe Gordon could provide advice on this???

I will do the cook along alone so it will be ready for my husband when he gets home from work. Thanks it will be such fun. x

  188. We are really looking forward to cooking this menu. My husband and I really enjoyed the last one, we had such a good laugh but it was not easy to follow the on screen instructions because we have our back to the tv when we are standing at the cooker! Also, because we were both cooking, we kept bumping into one another, so this time we will not open the wine until after we sit down to eat! Cant wait until the 24th.

  190. If they could break down the ingredients into what course they're for I'm sure we could just divide it in half for only 2 people on in quarter for only 1. Looks like a great menu to me. Too simple for some, too unusual for others, you'll never be able to please everyone but theres more to come in the series so hopefully everyone will find something they like.

My hubby Ray, doesn't like cooking and is really boring to cook for, so my 11yr old daughter Melody and I are going to buy all the ingredients, measure them out and let Daddy cook, our dinner, with Gordon! To give you some idea of his taste buds... the first breakfast he cooked for me was fried egg on toast with pickled onions and branston pickle!!!! The man's a monster!
