  2. LOVED IT although at one point my husband had to intervene to stop me throwing the rolling pin at the TV. Some of my herbs went in the wrong dishes (I think) and where were the hazelnuts meant to go (other than on the floor...)? Oven temperature?? Rhubarb not in season (thankfully skipped the crumble, as would have been stuffed and too stressed). Planning on trying again with friends next week- will take turns doing a course each; too stressful doing all three on own (despite husband and daughter running around kitchen for me). Keep it up (slow down a tadge...)

  4. With satellite connection available to all these days, how come the map only applies to UK viewers? I'm watching and cooking from out of Switzerland but had to use a UK town/city in order to register. Great show but a bit too fast for my liking.

  8. Although i'm still cleaning up the mess, it was alot of fun especially watching my 11 year old son running round the kitchen shouting out instructions!! Will try to do better next week. However, bit concerned about the food wastage, my dogs ate more than the horse! The food was great just hard to enjoy with all the chaos. Next time though i wont throw all the ingredients into 1 pot but u could have said 145g of butter would be used in seperate things not all for the herb butter which ended up with extra herbs....actually all the herbs and all the butter...not to mention the left over hazelnuts that the cat enjoyed. Cinnamon??? didn't even open the pot?!?! Hard new potatoes weren't bad once we clocked u pouring water from the kettle into the pan. Don't worry Gordon couple more weeks and i think i'll go for my 1st Michelin Star. Can't wait for next weeks

  9. Wow that was bonkers! luckily my wife and I love to cook and know our way around a kitchen and so we helped our 15 yr old daughter make the meal with the tv on the kitchen counter! It was hectic but it was delicious - especially the desert. The cheese salad was great too - the dressing really balanced the goats cheese. Thank you.

I can't register as not in mainland and there must be loads of people in Channel Isles doing this as the local off license has never sold so many minatures of dark rum!

  19. if gordon really wants to get people involved in cooking get real!!. I love cooking, but the list of ingredients and utensils is not the average kitchens content. Basic foods cooked well with basic utenslis would be much more appropriate. This is not a snipe at anyone, but a realistic view of a keen amateur cook who would like to do better.

  38. Have been waiting for another cookalong, well overdue. Immense fun last time, great idea Gordon, glad it will be a series this time. The last menu is now a regular in our household. Regarding previous comments, if can't afford it all, do a part of it. Not everyone in the country will like what is on every menu! We don't like goats cheese, but I figure if I am ever going to be converted, it would be one of Gordon's recipe that will do it, so we are giving it a go. p.s. Is the tin of beans incase we mess it up, at least we will have something to eat?

Have bought basic ingredients today but struggled with the rhubarb (out of season Gordon in case you were wondering) and the lamb's lettuce so will have to compromise with apple or pear and a.n.other sub for the lettuce. Exciting...

  53. well looking at many of the comments why are you bothering..? me i love to cook and find it fun and rewarding, as for my family they are used to my trials by mouth and so long as they are fed good food they dont mind being fed after 9pm. Go on give it a go and you may be surprised at what you like, as for the cost this is a lovely 3 course meal, next week is a more budget meal, but just do 1 or 2 courses.

  61. What a shame there are so many negative comments here, can't you people improvise? My 14 year old son and I have a great time in the kitchen and are really looking forward to this series. We are a family of 6 on a relatively low income with a food budget of £200 a month, we wont be buying a side of salmon but value portions. As we dont like goats cheese we are going to use something like camembert or even find a cheaper alternative, we dont like rhubarb so are going to substitute there as well, probably apple. Ive used a potato masher instead of a food processor before, turns it into mush too. Come on people, this is supposed to be FUN, improvise and have a laugh!!!

  75. so much of this is amusing me. first, by 9pm on friday i may very well have had a few glasses of vino, then if i got all that equipment out (possibly every single bit i own) i wouldn't have room to prepare the food (having a rather 'bijoux' cuisine), and that's before i've decided where to put the telly! i can see me now with the volume on full blast, slightly tiddled, running back and forth from the kitchen to the lounge. Brilliant, i'm in!

  76. I think this is a great idea! It is a well thought out concept with the ingredients listed aisle by aisle and the equipment you will need been advised. Not sure if I will be able to join in this one, just recovering from an operation - not able to lift heavy items, but look forward to joining in asap. By the way I'm a Rotherham born and bred lass but we are not all bad!

  79. I think supermarkets are missing a trick here, they could bag up all the ingredents and have them as a point of sale as we walk in the store , that way people who where a bit half and half about doing the cook along would think ..what the heck lets give it a go ..

  82. How unfortunate so many early comments are negative. Some of us work until 7 or 8pm so a 9pm start is perfect. It makes it more inclusive for working families or those who want the children in bed and sound asleep before it all kicks off. The cost is less than a take-away and the food will be much better. If you don't have half the ingredients in your house already then you probably don't have half the equipment either, so maybe this series is not for you.

  83. 2 questions - we're cooking with friends, boys v girls, and need to know how many people the recipes serve, 2 or 4?. Also, one of the party does not like salmon - is there an alternative, ie, chicken or could you use a different type of fish? Presume you would need to change cooking times? Any suggestions?

  87. I want to be part of the cookalong but don't have a television I can use in my kitchen. I look like having to watch/tape it and try it on my own later.
