Freelance food writer, Thoby Young, knows a thing or two about food, but will he know how to cook it on Come Dine With Me London?
Thoby has spent the week getting hot under the collar as PR girl Amii discussed her penchant for older men. Tonight might be her lucky night as the foodie admits he's sometimes known as 'Mr Tarty'. Alas for Amii, he's talking about his baking prowess.
Thoby's enthusiasm for food has started to grate a little on his rivals' nerves and they're not all looking forward to his cryptically titled 'after dinner surprise'. "The only surprise about this dinner," says Greg, "will be if he shuts his face, lets me eat it and get out quickly."
Let's hope Greg is more enthusiastic about Thoby's hand selected ingredients which include a tin of farmed caviar costing £145. Not one to shun controversy, Thoby's also serving some ethically farmed veal. "The whole veal debate is a load of bullocks," shrugs Hugo, nonplussed.
Thoby's guests have high hopes for the food writer's cuisine but an overcooked risotto leaves them all cold. Can his coffee jelly 'surprise' win them over or will it be a wobbly night all round?

Thoby served buckwheat blinis to start his evening with organic smoked salmon and rather expensive farmed caviar. Unfortunately we can't bring you Thoby's recipe for copyright reasons but for a similar dish try this smoked salmon and blinis recipe instead.

It was Osso Buco for main or veal shin if you prefer served with risotto bianco and a semi complex salad.

To finish the evening Thoby served Mr Tarty's blackberry and apple tart with frangipane.
