Farmer's son, John, is a fan of fine conversation over the dinner table. His hoped for dinner guests in Come Dine With Me East Yorkshire include ex-Playboy bunnies, and a semi-retired lap dancer. Looks like John might be disappointed.
Pulling out all the stops on the final night of the competition, John's turning to his mum's faithful recipe for meringue. "As a plumber I use grout quite a lot," he muses. And his finished product has a similar texture. Probably best to make another one.
The guests begin to arrive but lovelorn Sandra needs a moment on the front door to compose herself. "What would Julia Roberts say now?" Sandra asks herself. Er, probably 'what am I doing at a plumber's dinner party in East Yorkshire?'.
For starters, John serves a seafood special of coquilles St John, but it seems last night's main course is still repeating on the ladies as Sandra takes Wendy to task over her reaction to last night's turkey. "I was amazed at your comments about the birds – in fact, I was quite embarrassed," strops Sandra.
Let's hope John's lamb can brighten the mood. "This lamb was bred and reared by my brother from his championship stock," beams the farm boy. "You're eating one of the best lambs in Yorkshire."
"And it's dead on your plate," snipes Sandra in Wendy's location. "Can you swallow it?"
Let it go Sandra, think: what would Julia do?
