Celebrity hairdresser, Nicky Clarke, believes food should look as good as it tastes. Will his food be style over substance in the Come Dine With Me celebrity special?
Hair stylist to the stars, Nicky Clarke, is a stickler for presentation. "I'm much more about making sure everything looks and feels great," he admits. "Some people say it's all a bit shallow but there you go." It's good to be honest.
Lets hope Nicky can pretty up a fish as he's gone marine mad with his menu. Fussy eater, Jimmy, is not a fan of… well anything really, but especially things with fins so the stylist has his work cut out, snazzing up his clams.
To spice things up in the kitchen, Nicky chucks in a handful of chillies. Unfortunately he forgets to wash his hands before touching his face and ends up with stinging red skin. Face a-glow he serves his starter, excusing his glowing complexion to his concerned guests. "You mean you've got real chilli on your face?" asks a confused Jimmy. "I thought that was just a saying." Oh yeah, that classic adage.
When all else fails in the styling stakes there's always salt. Nicky covers his fish main course in a salt mountain and brings out the hammers for his guests to bash it up. "It's suffocating," cries a concerned Jimmy. It's dead Jimmy, it's dead.
The guests attacked the fish with gusto but can Nicky peak with his pavlova. Taking the same care and attention with his berries as he does with his barnet, Nicky creates a masterpiece. "I've had meringue before," trills a rapturous Jimmy. "But this is like meringue on steroids." Such a way with words.
Will Nicky's success leave the competition cut and dried or will his guests rule him style over substance?

To get his menu off to a spicy start Nicky served spaghetti vongole with chilli and clams.

For the main event the guests got hammering over Nicky's salt baked sea bass.

Nicky dazzled his diners with a dessert of pavlova and a mountain of fruit. For copyright reasons we can't provide Nicky's dessert, but why not get passionate with berry pavlova squares from 4Food?
